No School Monday 1/10 • Covid Reporting Form

Reminder that we do not have school on Monday, Jan. 10. School will resume on Tuesday, January 11.

There are three district testing sites open Monday, for students to get tested. The closest site is at 1108 Bissell Ave. Supt. Hurst has encouraged everyone to get tested before we return on Tuesday. More information and registration links here.

Also, if your student does (or has) tested positive for Covid, please ensure we know. This will help us keep the Nystrom community healthy. Let us know any positive test with this link

Students and staff are tested every Tuesday at Nystrom, and it is free of charge. These are rapid tests, meaning the results come in about 15 minutes.

Finally, if you need help, please contact the Nystrom office at 510-231-1406. Our office staff can help you register your student.

Welcome Back: Covid Update from WCCUSD

Greetings families! We hope that you have enjoyed a wonderful holiday season and a relaxing break!

School resumes on Monday, January 3rd.

A few updates and reminders regarding COVID safety as we return:

1. The district is providing free at home COVID testing kits this Sunday at Kennedy HS and Pinole Valley HS from 10am - 2pm. If you've travelled or visited indoors without masks, it's recommended that your child test before returning to school. The district website has more information regarding picking up tests to review before your go:

2. Starting Tuesday, the district will be providing drop in testing at the District Office Parking Lot from 8-4 for students and staff. You need to register in advance thru LSA. Link to register.

3. We will continue regular testing on site at Nystrom on Tuesdays for those who are registered. If your child is not registered and you need support, please contact the office and we can help with registration. Link to register.

4. We will continue masking while on site. However, surgical and N-95 masks are proven more effective against the newest variant. Please consider switching from cloth to surgical / N95 disposable masks.

5. WCCUSD continues to host vaccination clinics. This coming week there are clinics at Montalvin Manor, Verde, and Chavez. For more information on upcoming clinics, go here.

6. Most importantly, if your child is showing any symptoms of COVID (cough, runny nose, headache, fever, etc.) do not send them to school. They should remain home until symptom free. Please notify the school to excuse the absence. Also, if anyone in the household has been exposed, please keep your child home until they've had a negative test or have quarantined for 10 days. Please call to notify the school to excuse absences.

COVID Vaccination Clinic at Nystrom Tuesday & Wednesday (11/8 & 9)

Tuesday (11/9) and Wednesday (11/10) Nystrom will be hosting a COVID Vaccine clinic!

This is a great opportunity for anyone 5 years and older to get their first vaccination.

• Tuesday, Nov. 9 from 11-6:30

• Wednesday Nov. 10 from 8:30-4 p.m.

The clinic will be open to anyone in the community, and we encourage students and families to get vaccinated. No appointments are needed, and you do not need to bring an ID - just your name and date of birth. Students and minors who wish to get vaccinated must be accompanied by a parent or caretaker.

The clinic will be held in the Nystrom library, accessible from S. 12th St.

COVID Testing Registration

Last week a new company started testing students and staff throughout WCCUSD. They are able to provide same-day results.

Regular testing is one way we can ensure the health and safety of the Nystrom community. In order to test, there is a one-time registration form. The form is online, and directions can be found below in both English and Spanish.

In addition, we sent home a paper registration form in both English and Spanish on Friday. We will continue to test on Tuesdays of each week.

La semana pasada, una nueva empresa comenzó a evaluar a los estudiantes y al personal en todo WCCUSD. Pueden proporcionar resultados el mismo día.

Las pruebas periódicas son una forma en que podemos garantizar la salud y la seguridad de la comunidad de Nystrom. Para realizar la prueba, hay un formulario de registro único. El formulario está en línea y las instrucciones se pueden encontrar a continuación tanto en inglés como en español.

The health and safety of the Nystrom community is our top priority. To help everyone stay healthy and safe during the Covid-19 pandemic, we have updated our Covid-19 testing protocols.

The District has changed Covid-19 testing companies to one that can provide more timely test results.

To accommodate the change, we need everyone to complete the ONE-TIME testing registration form. The form can be found on WCCUSD's website. You must register in order for your student to be tested!

We will continue to test on Tuesdays of each week.

First Week of In Person Learning!

August 16: First Day of School!

The 2021-22 school year begins on Monday, August 16! We are thrilled to welcome everyone back to in-person learning!

Below you will find the bell schedule (it has not changed from pre-Covid times), and we will soon be posting some orientation videos, which will include information on safety protocols.

Class lists will be posted both here, and on Class Dojo Friday, August 13. If you don't have the Class Dojo app on your phone we highly encourage you to get it now. It is one of our primary modes of communication during the school year.
